“Peter Macaulay’s joyful pictures are usually inspired by beach and pool-side scenes. The lively, semi-abstract figures are both subtle and erotic. His paintings are filled with rhythmic lines; the colours sing. Peter Macaulay is perhaps one of Merseyside’s least known but certainly most mature and gifted artists. In the mid 1990s he participated in the ‘Artists at Work’ programme at the Walker Art Gallery.
His work is in several private collections.”
